The coastal areas will start the day with some cloud coverwhile the inland valleys may experience patchy morning fog. However, both regions are expected to enjoy plenty of sunshine as the day progresses. Temperatures will be slightly cooler than Saturday, with the coast reaching the upper 60s to mid 70s and the inland valleys ranging from the low to upper 70s.
Coastal Hazards and Temperature Variations
The elevated surf will continue through Sunday evening, with waves reaching 3-5 feet and sets up to 6 feet. Strong rip currents pose a potential hazard for beachgoers. The coastal cloud and inland fog trend is expected to persist through Tuesday, with an extensive marine layer affecting the region.
Starting Tuesday, a high pressure pattern will move in, diminishing the marine layer and bringing warmer temperatures. This shift will lead to a moderate heat riskparticularly in the inland valleys, mountains, and desertslasting through Thursday. The deserts, in particular, will see temperatures soaring to 98-105°F.
Mid-Level Moisture and South Swell
An influx of mid-level moisture is expected to arrive late Tuesday, bringing slight chances for showers in and west of the mountains on Wednesday. Additionally, a south swell will increase, potentially leading to another Beach Hazards Statement for the coast on Wednesday and Thursday.
