This is a 0.57% decrease from last week’s average of $5.428. Diesel prices, however, have risen by 2.52%, now averaging $6.785 per gallon.
The current gas price is significantly higher than the national average of $4.049 per gallon, reflecting a 33.29% premium for California drivers. This places the state among the more expensive areas in the country for fuel.
Over the past five weeks, gas prices in California have ranged from a low of $5.354 to a high of $5.495, with a slight overall increase of 0.8% compared to the oldest week in this period. The spread between diesel and gasoline prices stands at $1.388.
For context, California currently has the highest gas prices in the nation, while Texas offers the cheapest at $3.619 per gallon. The EIA data underscores the ongoing disparity in fuel costs across different regions.
