Compared to the national average of $4.085 per gallon for gasoline, California drivers are paying a premium. The state’s gas prices are 33.41% higher than the national average, placing it among the more expensive areas in the country.
Over the past six weeks, gas prices in California have ranged from a low of $5.354 to a high of $5.495 per gallon, reflecting a 1.79% increase from the oldest week in this period. This trend underscores the state’s consistently high fuel costs.
The gap between gasoline and diesel prices in California stands at $1.59, with diesel remaining significantly more expensive. This price differential is consistent with national trends, where diesel also commands a higher price per gallon.
