The watch is in effect from June 17, 2026, at 11:18 AM PDT until June 19, 2026, at 9:00 PM PDT.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Eureka has issued this watch. Isolated, mostly dry thunderstorms may form over the higher terrain of northern Humboldt and Trinity counties as early as Friday morning, with storms more likely with wider coverage Friday afternoon and evening. Storms could produce gusty and erratic outflow winds up to 40 mph. Thunderstorms may ignite new fires with dry fuels and in difficult-to-access locations. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
In case of emergency, dial 911. The NWS advises residents to listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings. To prepare, avoid all outdoor burning and open flames. Properly discard cigarettes and keep defensible space clear of dry vegetation. Be ready to evacuate if necessary.
