The adrenaline-pumping X2 roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain became the unexpected scene of a brush fire on Thursday afternoon. The incident, which began around 12:21 p.m.drew a rapid response from the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire, located in the 26100 block of Magic Mountain Parkway in Valenciawas first reported to authorities just before lunchtime. Footage from the scene showed flames engulfing a palm tree beneath the coaster’s tracks on the west side of the park.
The fire’s rapid spread and containment
Firefighters arrived at the scene within five minutes of the initial report, finding flames actively burning below the popular attraction. The blaze quickly spread, scorching approximately half an acre of brush before crews could halt its advance at 12:48 p.m..
Despite the fire’s intensity, officials confirmed that no injuries were reported among guests, park employees, or firefighters. Additionally, there were no evacuations required during the response. Six Flags spokeswoman Sara Gorgon assured that “There were no injuries or structural damages.” The park remained open and continued operations as scheduled.
The investigation and aftermath
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by authorities. However, the swift response from firefighters was praised for preventing further damage. Fire Department spokeswoman Kaitlyn Aldana noted that “Thanks to the firefighters’ quick response and hard work, the incident was declared closed at 1:36 p.m.“
As the investigation continues, park officials and firefighters are likely reviewing the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The quick containment of the fire highlights the importance of preparedness and rapid response in managing such emergencies.
